Attack of the Screens

Family time ... after the invention of Apple devices

Even Pigs Steer Clear of This Sty

I would like to preemptively issue an apology to Ellie's future roommates.
Because this is what is in your future.
I'm sorry.

P.S. - it's not nearly as scary as her bedroom

Our Brand-New Teenager

Y'all, I need to tell you - we now have an official teenager in the house. But don't worry - despite the raging teenage hormones (and a manly mustache that requires shaving at least once a month) - Jack is one of the good ones. He's kind, he's smart, he's funny, he's talented, and he's not TOO weird - at least for our family. (Just keep him well-supplied with chocolate milk and you'll have no problems.)

Happy Birthday, Jack!

Miranda Madness

To say that Ellie was excited to see this weekend's Miranda Sings concert is, as they say, the understatement of the year. And to say that I was a wee bit nervous to bring three screaming tweens to the revered Kennedy Center would also be an understatement. Of course, then I saw the 1,000 or so other screaming tweens and realized that these girls fit right in. And as my final understatement, I think it's safe to say that the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience - from the awesome 7th row tickets, to the concert being filmed by Netflix (Ellie screamed "extra loud" to be sure she'd be heard on the film), to Ellie's cousin Brooke actually being called up to stage. Yes - understatement - they had a great time.

Just Sayin'

I'm not saying that Jack is still feeling a little cocky about his summer Master Chef victory, but he insisted on these visual props as we cooked the other day.

When Old People Text

Grandmom has learned to text, people. And so you darned well better believe that she does so properly. With hard returns after each thought. Proper greetings, well-thought out body, a succinct closing, and signature. Perhaps a postscript of she's feeling sassy. But let's not get too carried away. We're not savages.

Stay tuned for next week's episode when Grandmom Learns Emojis. Things are gonna get REAL then, my friends.

Dog Pile

To be honest, it's not all that unusual to me to wake up to this dog pile. It makes me feel all warm and gushy. But I do want it noted for the record that I .... sleep on the dang bed. There's only so far I'll go for family togetherness, people.
