Happy Easter! Jared's been away at training, but the kids and I had a lovely Easter together. We started off with teen-appropriate Easter baskets (although I'm sure they would have just preferred cash), then headed over to church. After that, Peter and Robyn hosted us for Easter lunch. Although we wish Jared could have been there, all in all a lovely day.

Spring has sprung
When we got back from Texas, we were blessed with a couple of warm, beautiful days. Yes, they didn't last long before the weather turned yucky again, but hey, we took advantage of it, opened up the pool, and basked in the sun. Now it's cold again, but we're hoping the sun will come back soon.
Hello, Texas!
For Spring Break, the kids and I headed to the Lone Star State - specifically, San Antonio and Austin. Yes, yes, Ellie, I know that all the cool kids went to the beach, but life is not fair, so we went to Texas. OK, now that that's out of the way....
We were there for just a few days - the first day we wandered around (meaning, got lost a lot) San Antonio, strolled along the Riverwalk (beautiful!), and took a Riverwalk boat tour. We also had dinner at the top of the Tower of the Americas. The second day we met up with our old friends Crystal and Emma Tannous, checking out the Japanese tea garden, the missions, and the Big Time Machine restaurant. One our last day, we drove to Austin and did a food tour in downtown Austin. Just a quick trip, but it was fun to go somewhere we hadn't been. Even if all the cool kids were in Florida....
Congrats, Jack!
Although you can't tell from this photo (just trust me!), Jack was inducted into the National Honor Society the other night. He's been working really hard to get great grades, and it's paying off. Congrats, Jack!
Mission Human Pretzel
Ellie's been working hard at getting into shape and increasing her flexibility. Current mission? Do the splits. She's been practicing every night and is getting SO CLOSE. Come on, human pretzel, you can do it!
Who's in Charge?
When you take a dog for a "walk," that whole "walk" word kind of implies that you will be, well, WALKING, yes? Well, Oliver apparently didn't get that memo, because to him, a "walk" means walk to the street and then just lay down.
And that's it.
Just lay there while Mom begs and pleads you to just WALK.
But hey, who needs to walk during a walk, right?
Who's in charge here? (I think we know the answer to that)
I'm sorry, Mom
There are times when, as a mom, I truly appreciate my own mom ... and all the crap she had to do for us. One of those times happens every week, when I see this:
A hallway full o' dirty laundry just waiting for me. And this is for just two adults and two kids. My mom did this for TEN kids, which means piles and piles more of dirty, stinky laundry waiting for her. Yes, this is one of those times when I think, dang, sorry, Mom.
