Bloods and Crips

As the kids are leaving for school....

Mom: Love you!!

Jack: Love you, Mom

Ellie: holds her hand in front of her chest in kind of a C shape

Mom: Letter C? Huh?

Ellie: That's a one-handed heart....and my gang sign - Crips

Mom: Umm....

Jack: Ellie, we're not in a gang. Although if I were in a gang, I would choose Crips. Because the color blue really makes my eyes pop.

Mom: Umm....

Bummer

OK, so we heard about this restaurant that used robots to deliver the food. So, you know, duh, of course we have to go check out the robots who will soon be our masters.

Well, bummer, it was a bit of a letdown. OK, so technically, the food was delivered via the robot. But there was a boring ol' human who walked right alongside of it, took the food out of the robot, and gave us our food. Sure, the robot talked a bit, but come on, it was basically a glorified cart.

So, bummer. But on the bright side, perhaps us humans still have some life left in us before the robots take over.

Heading toward Easter

Time is flying and Easter is just around the corner. Before we got into the Lenten season we had to celebrate Fat Tuesday with some yummy king's cake. A local lady made this and it was yummy. I gotta be honest, when we first tried king's cake in Belgium, I thought it was kinda dry and tasteless, but she added a praline filling that made it quite yummy. Of course it was GINORMOUS, so the kids and I finished maybe half of it, at most. In fact, we never did find the little toy baby. This was especially irking to Ellie, who "found" the baby each time we had king's cake in Belgium.

After Fat Tuesday of course comes Ash Wednesday, so SOME Of us were doing this.

Meanwhile, SOME of us were doing this:

And this

While they watched this

So, you know, that's certainly one way to kick off the Easter season.
