We're So Very Fancy

You know, we are all so very fancy. What with our big-ass hot tub right in our backyard. What with our fabulous 65 jets and what-not.

Sure, with COVID delays, it took FIVE LONG MONTHS to get here. And then, due to unforeseen technical difficulties it took us FIVE TECH VISITS to get it up and running. Sure, we thought it would never happen.

But now it has.

And so now we are just SO VERY FANCY.

Perfect Birthday

How to make a perfect birthday for Lydia:

(1) Wake her up (but not too early) with her favorite coffee drink and chocolate croissants.

(2) Give her an awesome birthday card

(3) Take her to a lovely winery/restaurant for lunch (some of the things aren't shown, but we started with a charcuterie board and a wine flight, then had some really tasty pizzas, and finished off with yummy desserts)

(4) Sit through online church WITHOUT COMPLAINTS (really, it's a birthday miracle)

(5) Leave her alone with a book and some Milano cookies.

And that, my friend, is how it's done.

They really exist!

Sometimes it's hard to prove that I have two kids, because at any point in time, one will refuse to take a picture with the family - or really, in the case of one daughter who shall remain nameless, to be SEEN BY OTHER HUMAN BEINGS with the family. The other weekend we decided to walk over to a nearby restaurant.

"No," said daughter.

"Yes," said Dad.

"No," said daughter.

"OK, but I'm turning off the wifi when we leave."

"OK," said daughter. (But I hate you and you suck and all the typical teenager-y stuff.)

The catch, though? We had to walk one block behind her so other human beings wouldn't see her and think she ... has a family.

Well, miracle of all miracles, all four members of my family - POSED FOR A PHOTO! And .... SMILED!!!!

Really, I think this must be noted for posterity.

I DO have a family. They really exist.

Election Day

I'll spare you the summary - if you're reading this years from now, just look it up. But suffice to say, it was a doozy. Crazy, crazy, crazy election. But we did our part and voted. Then I came back to watch the election with some 'Merican food - burgers and fries and some California wine. The wine especially helped as we watched the craziness that was the election results.

Aliens and Peanut Butter

Jack is loving his Film class, and coming up with film ideas on his own. I had the honor of being cameramom on his latest, which included an alien invasion, some scary misunderstandings, and ultimately solving the alien issue with some peanut butter.

Blondes have more fun?

Attention, y'all, Ellie's going blonde again. She's been dark brown for a while, but is feeling the need for a change. It'll take a few sessions, but we're slowly adding the blonde back in. Beautiful, no matter the color.
